Ken Hegemann's MXLO Magnetic Motor replicationMXLO Magnet Motor Open Sourcing Project

Summary: This open sourcing project sponsored by Pure Energy Systems, based on a design by MXLO, commenced Mar. 3, 2004 and was active for about a month.  At least 14 (8 verified) replications were built, none of which worked, proving that MXLO plans are neither easy nor complete, contrary to what they insinuate on their site, which now redirects to the U.S. government's renewable energy site. On July 10, a hint about shielding was given that was not contained in the plans.

Working on Second Unit

From:  <bible_reader_2004@yahoo.com>

Subject:  Re: [pes_mxlo] Question for Bible Reader and Ed Anderson

John,
This unit that I am building now is only my second unit. The first unit was made of square plates not disc. As long as I keep moving the stator up, down, forward, back, left, and right, the rotor would turn, but now always in the same direction.
I have some 1" x 1/4" ceramic disk for the stator and I have on order some 3/4" x 1/4" ceramic magnets for my rotor. I personally can not think why it should act any differently.
I am still not to spec's thro. The magnets will be placed inside the plexiglass instead of on the outside. This way, I don't have to glue these fragile magnets on. Maybe they will live to see another project.
One last thing. My camera doesn't seem to want to work for some reason. It was working when I pulled it off my computer but now, it isn't. I will probably buy another one when I need it. Mainly if the unit works, I will want to show it off. As for doing any different, I think all these units are doing about the same thing. More experimenting is needed to verify everything. Well Godbless and Peace be with you.

Ed,
Your rotor magnet placement looks different from mine. Are we all
using the same templates for this stuff? Your rotor surface seems more
'covered' than mine. I have quite a gap in the middle seperating my
two ends.

and Bible Reader,
   You've tried 3 units now...
Are you seeing a 'principle' in them? Or any consistency?
I keep tinkering with mine and wondering how things would be
different with a true to spec model. Any chance you could post a video
of how your units act? I will video the motions I have to use to get
movement on mine.  Maybe if we can see and compare how all our
different models act something will come to light.

Machining Stators to hold Ceramic Mags

Replying to: Wayne Jones: Built Another Unit; Doesn't Work Yet

Wayne,

I still haven't gave up on them yet. I am in the process of machining my stator walls so I can drop 1" x 1/4" ceramic magnets in line without gluing them. If I glue ceramic magnets I'm afraid they will break when I take them apart.. Plus I'm doing it in my spare time, that's what is taking so long this time.

I emailed MXLO twice about the rotor magnets placement. Either I am slow or can't read between the lines very good. They said not to use the picture of the rotor but the template. Well, even the template magnets are not uniform on both sides. Could this throw it out of balance enough to make it work. Who knows? I will keep trying for a while thro. God bless all and Peace be with you.

Built it, doesn't work yet

Sterling,
I notice last night that the stator walls can be put together wrong. Each wall has a left and a right end. If one is turned upside down, it would not be uniform. That by itself maybe causing a problem. Each corner should have a left and right end attached. Correct me if I am wrong, but it makes sense to me. By the way, mine still isn't working even after aligning them correctly. God bless all.

My Dimensions off 50%

Sterling,
Yes, I found that out also but I will attempt it again with the right dimension ratio. My dimensions are off 50%. I hope to have better news next time. Best of luck to you and all replicators on their project. We need to at least get one working to learn from it.

Purchased Plans

Sterling,
I have been noticing alot of questions reguarding the mxlo generator. Well, I downloaded the plans after purchasing them. They are the same plans that everyone else has downloaded. [...]
